Riding upwind

Wing foiling on a upwind course

As with all sailing sports, you have to sail an upwind course when wing foiling in order to reach a windward destination. As you can't sail directly into the wind, you're foiling on a zigzag course.

To do this, leave the normal crosswind course by luffing (load the windward rail, pull the wing back slightly) and change to the upwind course. This course is approximately 45 degrees upwind. An upright body position and stronger body tension help to maintain this course.
