Sliding while wing foiling
This is how you make the foil slide across the water while wing foiling - Chris Macdonald demonstrates a long foil slide. His body weight is supported by the wing, and the foil dances across the water’s surface.
To get into this position, Chris lets the foil’s wings break the surface, pushes the board forward, and hangs on the wing with his legs bent. The windward side of the front wing touches the water and is kept on the surface by the board’s angle (nose and leeward rail up).
This trick works until the speed decreases and the dynamic lift on the foil is no longer sufficient to keep the foil afloat.
The board then sinks back down and must be caught, just like when landing after a jump. Touchdown, and off we go (Chris then jumps over a small wave, but that has nothing to do with the slide).
