Duotone Float and Float SLS 2026

The second generation of the FLOAT wave and freefly wing is here

Duotone’s FLOAT Wing is now launching its second generation, and in addition to the standard “original” version, an SLS line is now also available. The difference between the two versions is immediately apparent at first glance. A bright “fuzzy pink” brings color to the water with the FLOAT. The SLS version of the wing is more subdued; as with the UNIT SLS, the color “sand” was chosen.

Not only the colors, but also the shape of the windowless boom wing has changed slightly. The wingspan is slightly larger than that of its predecessor (302 cm instead of 295 cm for the 4.0 size).

Update from March 6, 2025: Duotone has corrected the weight specifications; the table did not contain the correct values at the time of release. According to Duotone, the SLS version - using the 4.0 size as an example - is 40 grams lighter than the “original” version (1.71 kg vs. 1.75 kg without the boom; the boom weighs approx. 350 g). Compared to the 2025 model, the weight of the “original” version has been reduced by a few grams.

The already excellent drift stability of the predecessor model we tested has been further enhanced by the new wing design, and the SLS version offers a stiffer airframe thanks to PentaTX fabric on the leading edge and struts. This material on the tubes also allows for a thinner leading edge diameter, which reduces drag and improves performance during drifts and maneuvers.

Both wings are designed to provide thrust as early as possible; Klaas Voget had already told us last fall about the improved on/off response of the prototypes during downwind rides on a wave.

You can find information about both new wings - each available in eight sizes ranging from 2.0 m2 to 5.5 m2 in 0.5-meter increments - via the two links provided.

We’ve included a video of the SLS version above. The SLS Wings are priced between EUR 1,159 and EUR 1,379, while the FLOAT in fuzzy pink ranges from EUR 929 to EUR 1,099. These prices do not include the boom, which is sold separately for EUR 99.
